MMI Art Program –                         This page is under construction

Participating in the arts provides an essential avenue for growth and independence.

MMI is a non profit organization committed to supporting individuals with disabilities in increasing their independence and community involvement. MMI’s Art Program offers individuals with significant disabilities an opportunity to build self-esteem and self-awareness through self-expression.  As individuals gain positive experiences through artistic exploration they build self confidence. Confident   individuals are happier and learn skills more easily resulting in increased independence in both the community and employment arenas.

Art is a universal language having the ability to unite all people by providing individuals with significant disabilities a safe avenue to express themselves free from physical, social and attitudinal barriers. Participating in artistic endeavors provides an opportunity for individuals to be seen for their abilities and not judged by their disabilities.

MMI is committed to connecting   individuals with their communities. Through the art program individuals receive the support they need to participate in many community events including The Festival of Banners, The Chair Affair and Art Walk. These opportunities provide an   avenue for individuals to be active community members, meet others with similar interest and receive recognition for their talents.

Many opportunities to engage in artistic expression are available through MMI’s art program.  These opportunities are open and available to both individuals enrolled in MMI’s traditional services as well as those who are only interested in exploring their creative talents.  The art program serves individuals with an array of disabilities including both developmental disabilities and mental illness.  If you or someone you know is interested in pursuing involvement in the art program please contact MMI at the phone number or address on the back of this brochure.

You Can Make A Difference

MMI’s Art Program is funded in part through several fund raisers.  Your support of these programs makes it possible to continue services and make a positive difference in the life of individuals with disabilities.

Calendar Fund Raiser

Each fall a calendar featuring the work of artists served by MMI is  assembled.  This beautiful full color calendar is available for sale       Starting November 1st.  You or your organization can make a big impact upon the opportunities available by sponsoring a page in the calendar with a $100 donation.

Volunteer

Volunteers for the art program are always in need.  If you have a  creative talent you would like to share please contact MMI.

Art Work for sale

Artists often offer their artwork for sale to the public.  These pieces can be viewed at MMI or at several locations in the community including Time ‘N Again in Blanchard, MI.  A portion of all art work sold is returned to the artist with the remainder going to purchase additional     supplies for the art program.
