Youth Services

MMI has contracted with Michigan Works! Region 7B Employment and Training Consortium on our groundbreaking WAVE and PAVE programs. These services prepare youth for the workforce with hands-on training and mentoring to give them the support they need to stay on the right track.

Services are available to at-risk youth in Clare, Gladwin, Arenac and Iosco Counties.

Community Connections

Wave
(Work and Vocational Exploration)

Over six weeks in the summer, students in the WAVE Program explore different vocational fields and receive a week of job readiness training. By the end of the program, students are able to identify their areas of interest and have a realistic expectation of the job duties in each line of work. The vocational fields they explore are:

Automotive, Building Trades, Business, Computers, Medical Arts, Leadership Training, Paid Work Experiences, Public Safety, and Service.

The WAVE Program have designed a web site to provide information about the program. Click here to visit that site.

PAVE
(Personal, Academic, and Vocational Exploration)

The primary focus of the PAVE program is to provide mentoring and vocational exploration to at-risk youth throughout the school year.

These services are designed to help students remain in school, develop employment goals and plans to achieve those goals and to keep the student focused on receiving the skills necessary to achieve their dreams

In addition, each student receives training in Job Seeking and Keeping Skills
